A Harse Named Johnny
We've added another member to the family. "Johnny" the horse, or harse as Etta says, joined us on Sunday. This cowgirl wants to take him everywhere we go, and loves to sing songs to and about him.
She's great about feeding him and sharing her water. He started in the driveway, heading to the backyard we thought.
Then he had a stop in the living room, which doesn't bother me if it means she leaves her brother alone while he is in his swing. Now he's in her room. I had to sing him a lullaby tonight.
She didn't bother to come say good morning to me today. Instead I heard the sound of his springs. Not bad for $35...

Need to put this out there
Month One
We've been a family of 4 for a month now, and things are going well, some of the time anyway... Nannie was in town to help for about 2.5 weeks- which was awesome. Dean came out towards the end of her trip and had a great time teasing Etta. Here are some pics from the first month.
Hanging out with Nannie. Nannie didn't get much of a chance to rest while she was here. Between requests for Nannie pancakes she played, did laundry, held crying kids, and whatever else was needed at the time. She truly is the best.
We brought in a bag of toys for James. Etta decided he needed to play with all of them at one time. She has since put the 5 finger discount on the big fish...
She loves to cuddle and kiss her brother. This usually means that I am wiping his face once she is finished.
Dean and Etta at the zoo in the helicopter at the polar bear exhibit. I wouldn't fly with these two.
Nannie seems to have lost her sucker...
We're slowly getting the hang of things since my parents left. Some days are harder than others, but we'll get there!

Sings(Things) to do Work
We've been busy here with projects the last couple of weekends. Brent and Etta built this raised bed for our "garden": tomato and cucumber plants. Etta was especially helpful when it was time to add the steer manure to the bed, "I like cow poopoo. It's sinky." After everything was finished Brent grilled, we had a great dinner on the porch, and Etta sang us a "sake song" (snake song). "If you see a blue sake it means you are going nigh-nigh. La la la, sake song." This was sung in a high-pitched voice while she rocked side to side and waved her arms in the air. Oh yeah- it was a lullaby.
This weekend it was some lattice for bougainvillea in the backyard. Etta knows that all projects in this house begin with a 2 hour trip to Lowes. Apparently Lowes is a great place to poop, when we bought the washer and dryer she wedged herself behind some appliances to do her business. Brent tells me it was the vacuum cleaners this trip.
Working with Daddy's "sings".
Brent removed his shirt this morning while they were working, someone followed suit shortly there after
and it quickly turned into the outfit below.
I know ya'll are wondering what I did while all this was going on. I was very busy growing a baby.
City Kids
I ran across this one today and had to put it up. I'm not sure how old Neva and Etta are in this pic, but I love it. Neva's dad had recently taught her to smell her feet and say, "Pee Ewww". Here she is outside the market at Valencia and 24th teaching Etta. I sure do miss Neva and company, and that awesome city.

Bunny Love 1
Our first Easter in San Diego was great. We started the day with a basket filled with...
"CHOCWATE" and a recorder.
Family band.
This stuff was all over the house last year. I confiscated it shortly after she pulled it out of the basket this year. I'm learning.
Later we headed north to Brent's Great Uncle Donald's house for lunch, a confetti easter egg hunt, and more easter booty. Etta loved this "puter" and carried it around most of the day. She also loved Cousin Denise, at one point looking at me and declaring, "She's a nice mommy."
Bunny Love 2
Here's Etta with cousins Laney and Leah. I think they are third cousins. I have never seen her pose for photos like this- I think it was being around the older girls.
Rolling around on the ground in her Easter dress.
Woo Hoo- EGG HUNT! These eggs were filled with confetti. After the hunt the older kids and adults cracked them over each others heads, and tossed them around the yard. Fun clean up for Uncle Donald. Etta was not into the cracking of the eggs.
Almost posing with me.
The aftermath of allowing her to keep 2 confetti eggs. She decided they needed to be "peeled" around 6:45 this morning.

More Bday pics
More pics from the birthday weekend.
Under her "cozy blanket" that Meemaw made. She must have this to sleep now.
Riding her new "bike" with Dean.
"My bike, my bike!" She was carrying Nannie's cell and her blackberry when she saw it, and promptly dropped them in the driveway.
Wearing her new "bassrobe".
Help from Sophie with her gift.
She's 2!!
We aren't quite sure how it happened, but all three of us survived the first 2 years of Etta's life. We had a great weekend with lots of family, a new bike, and yummy cupcakes.
Pablo from the Backyardiagans.

Right before she smashed the cupcake with her sleeve.
Dancing with balloons in her mouth with Peepaw.
Playing blocks with great grandmother Odis.
