etta has recently started eating out of my bowl, off my plate, etc.  she really seems to like my carbonara!  it's been a good week.

We've had to move some things around recently.  Seven teeth + increasing arm strength = a danger to food items. Etta had a blast playing in the cabinet while Brent moved things around.

Who would have thought that someone this small and cute could carry an evil virus, one that makes you run like an Olympic sprinter when the urge hits?  Etta took Mommy and Daddy out, but she didn't stop there.  She took our friend Erin out too.  I am continually amazed by what these little people have the power to do to adults.

music class

usually sara, our nanny, takes etta and her daughter valeria to music at the library on mondays.  this past week sara took the day off and we met at the library for class.  the third baby in the pic is etta's friend vivian.

Fish

we went to see the fish at the new academy of sciences today with tara and theo.  etta loved the fish, but wasn't so sure about having theo touch her pumas...

Play Group Halloween

we got together with our play group buddies for a little late halloween celebration. the babies weren't all that happy about wearing their costumes again...  jamieson was a panda, eva was a lion, you know the rat, and cecil was a strawberry.  we had a great time.

Notice to Grandparents

Etta will not need toys for Christmas.  Vegetables will be just fine.

My Favorite Place

I love the Discovery Museum of the Bay Area.  Not only because Etta had a blast, but also for what happened on the way home... best $10 I ever spent.

Clean up crew

Fred has been officially added to the staff here in SF. Every time Etta sits down to eat he moves into position under the highchair.  Cheerios and waffles are his favorites so far.

etta spent some time in baby jail last night.  yes- the nasal bulb is clean.

New Stats

we went in for etta's nine month check up yesterday (a little early). she's weighing in at 18lbs, 7ozs; and she's 28 inches long.  she handled the flu shot like a champ. dr. piel thinks she'll be walking by her first bday.  it is ON people.

Our grand plans for Etta's first Halloween costume turned into a trip to Old Navy. For $5.34 she could either be a poodle, a bat, or a mouse. We decided on the mouse costume and headed to the register. I wasn't jazzed about it to begin with- I'd rather have ordered the really cute duck from the catalog we seem to get copies of every other day- but we needed to go ahead and take care of business so a mouse it was. As we were being rung up Brent pointed to the card swipe machine- Etta's going to be a RAT for Halloween. COME ON PEOPLE- our daugther is going to be a RAT??? I guess the person who enters skus for Old Navy couldn't take the time to type two extra letters. Cutest freakin rat ever...

Dining Companion

when etta saw her pumpkin on the kitchen table this morning she invited it to dine with her.  

Dirt Patch with Pumpkins

we went to the pumpkin patch in half moon bay with our friends neva and erin today.  etta and neva enjoyed sampling the local soil.

8 months old

 etta and i celebrated by heading to dolores park.  we sat really close to a dog- etta told him all about her life to this point- sounded pretty good to me.  hilarious video of etta and daddy playing is on the way- we just have to figure out how to get it off the camera and on to the mac.

Back in the Saddle

uh, make that the swing.  we've been down for the count around here.  etta brought home a nasty cold that she shared with us.  i'm really going to have to speak to her about the babies she's choosing to hang out with.  she also got pink eye, and then decided mommy needed it too.  we're on the mend though- we made it to the park today.
