Ho Ho Ho!

Santa was very good to Etta this year- even after she rejected him.
Playing basketball with her Daddy. We're going to have to help her with this one for a while.
Reading the "Bums" book to her new monkey buddy.
Heading to "da zoo, da zoo". (I have no idea where she gets the idea that you should text, and carry your baby, and your diaper bag all at the same time.)
And lastly, Brent and Etta on my new bike.

Why go to the mall...

when you can traumatize your child in the comfort of your own home? (especially if it means you can leave on your fat pants.)

Wha Happen?

When Natalie and I were little we put on a "show" for our parents almost every night after the dinner dishes were done. It was always the same routine- set to the theme song for Green Acres. Our parents watched every night, applauding as much the first time as the 151 time.

Etta had us sit on the couch last night. She told Brent to, "get ina couch daddy". She proceeded to dance and sing on the hearth, clapping and saying "Yay" when each number was completed. I don't have video- yet. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen. There was a lot of mumbling, and then maybe one word you could understand.

It went a little something like this:
"sumasumasumasuma wha happen?" (this was the intro to the song)
"Wha happen, wha happen, shakey shakey shakey, Yay!"

She's a lot of work, but she sure is a ton of fun.

Boots!

I know we have a lot of catching up to do, including the second half of our vacation in july and our move to San Diego. That will have to wait until I have finished the Christmas cards.

Etta stuffed herself into this pitcher in the bathroom the other morning and called it "boots".

A couple to hold you over

It's been a month since our last post. I've been working on the vacation posts, but I've been overwhelmed by the number of pictures, and the pressure to say something witty about each one.

Here are a couple to hold you over until I can get things put together...
Tori (visiting while her parents are at burning man) and Etta at Rodeo Beach on Wednesday. The trip was a DISASTER. We were playfully attacked by another dog who left a hole in my yoga pants, and a scratch in a delicate area. Etta and Tori were attacked by yellow jackets for their snacks. Tori and I successfully defended Etta (I had a plastic shovel), but Tori took a hit to the paw. On our way back to the jeep I realized the keys were locked inside... Luckily I parked right across the street from the fire dept. They sent a park ranger out and he was able to stick the slim jim in the cracked window, pressing the lock button and unlocking the car.
Music was fun this morning.

something smells fishy

we hit the discovery museum this afternoon.  these two are a total hoot together, giggling in the car, switching snacks and sippy cups.  i have a feeling we'll have to supervise their playtime well into their teens.

popsicles in the park

neva got a kitchen!!!
she looks like she's walking etta through the installation process.
"It took my daddy 5.5 hours to put it together."
these two were still relatively clean at this point.

i recently shrunk some yoga pants and ended up cutting off the bottoms so i would actually wear them.  i've been using the remnants in my hair (learned this from brent).  of course etta needed to try it out too.

maisy's birthday

we went to maisy's third birthday party on sunday.  here's etta waiting  for her daddy to put her seat in the car.
playing in the water in the sand box
kissing a soccer ball.
wearing a party hat!

16 months!!!

and not to be trusted with crayons while mommy is in the bathroom.

new material

we've been busy lately.  i think i have enough pictures for five posts.  i'm going to have to limit myself to one per day.
we took to the girls to the beach on thursday.  that's nene (as she refers to herself) with the bay, sailboats and doggies in the background.  nene would gladly go swimming in the "oshish" if her mommy would only let her...
that's emoney sitting in the sand.  she kept telling me "hot, hot, hot" and "all done".  we might have to have some of those funny looking shoes for our BIG BEACH TRIP.  We leave in 5 weeks!

we love trader joe's

topping etta's list today, freeze dried blueberries and stickers.

fish out of water

i know the pics are blurry, but i couldn't help it.  erin and i took the girls to the ucsf pool on saturday to combat the afternoon crabbies.  the girls throughly enjoyed the pool, etta practiced stuffing herself into the lockers, and someone (who shall remain nameless) peed on the floor, twice.

new obsession

philz coffee, brewed one cup at a time, just for you...
